Buildings are constructed using masonry blocks called fly ash bricks. They are regarded as being among the best and most reasonably priced building materials. They are made up of water and Class C fly ash.
Class C fly ash and water are compressed at 4000 psi to create fly ash bricks, which are then given a 24-hour curing period in a steam bath heated to 66 degrees Celsius. To make the bricks stronger, an air entrainment agent is utilised.
The brick is referred to as self-cementing because class C fly ash has a very high proportion of calcium oxide.
